SplitMate › Offline expense splitter
An expense splitter that works offline, with no sign-up
Treks, hill stations, beaches and long train rides are exactly where group trip money gets spent, and exactly where the network drops. SplitMate keeps working there because the whole trip lives on the phone.
What works with no connection
- Creating a trip, adding members and choosing the cashier
- Adding expenses, contributions and top-ups, including typed quick-add like "Dinner 1800 paid by Bilal"
- Splitting with everyone or only some people, by exact amounts, shares or percentages
- Live balances, each person's fair share and the trip fund balance
- The settle-up plan and recording full or part payments
- The full timeline, and fixing mistakes with a recorded reason
What needs a connection, and is optional
- Downloading on-device AI models or the Hindi and Bengali translation pack, once
- Online map outlines for the optional trip map (off by default)
- Voice input on phones without on-device speech recognition (the app asks first)
No account, by design
There is no sign-up, no login and no server holding your trips. Your trips, members and amounts stay on your phone and are included in your phone's own Android backup. SplitMate has no ads and no analytics of its own. Read the privacy policy for the details.
How the group stays in the loop: one person, usually the cashier, keeps the trip. Everyone else gets the numbers as a message. Share a trip summary or a settle-up reminder through WhatsApp or any app, in English, Hindi or Bengali. Nobody else has to install anything.
Who it suits
- Friend groups who already collect a common fund and have one person hold it
- Trips to places with weak or no signal
- People who don't want yet another account for a weekend trip
If your group wants every member to see and edit the same live ledger on their own phone, an online app that syncs, like Splitwise, fits that better. See SplitMate vs Splitwise.
Questions
Does SplitMate need the internet?
No. Adding expenses and contributions, checking balances and settling up all work offline. Only optional extras, such as downloading on-device AI models, translation packs or online map outlines, need a connection.
Do my friends need to install the app?
No. The cashier keeps the trip on their phone. Everyone else can get a summary or a reminder as a message on WhatsApp or any other app.
What happens to my trips if I change phones?
Trips are included in your phone's own Android backup, so they move with you when you restore that backup on a new phone.
Works where the network doesn't
