SplitMate

Privacy policy

Last updated: 10 October 2026

SplitMate (“the app”) is made by Monster Techno. This policy explains what the app does with your information.

The short version

SplitMate has no account, no ads and no analytics of its own. Your trips, members, expenses, contributions and settlements are stored only on your phone.

Data stored on your phone

This data is included in your phone's own Android backup (for example Google One backup) so it moves to a new phone. You control that backup in your phone's settings.

Data that can leave your phone

  1. Online map shapes (optional, off by default). When turned on, the name of a place the app already recognised (for example “Calangute, Goa, India”) is sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim to fetch its outline. Your trip names and member names are never sent. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
  2. Online voice input (optional). If your phone can't recognise speech on the device and you agree to the in-app notice, the audio you speak is processed by your phone's speech service (usually Google) to turn it into text.
  3. On-device AI and translation downloads. Smart features use Google ML Kit. AI models are downloaded from Google, and ML Kit sends Google basic diagnostics (device model, OS version, app version, feature used, error codes) to keep these features working. Your trip records are not sent. See ML Kit's data disclosure.

Permissions

Children

SplitMate is not directed at children under 13.

Deleting your data

Delete a trip in the app, or uninstall the app to delete everything on the phone. Because there is no account, we hold no copy of your data.
